When you come to Uganda to live, setting up your house or flat is an important first step. This article helps you understand the process, to know what to expect, and to help you to plan for the transition.
You will be responsible to set up your own household.
However, the Mission does allow you to raise ministry funds to purchase the following:
- Stove
- Refrigerator
- Dining Table
- 6 Dining Chairs
- Buffet
- 1 set Twin Beds with Mattresses, 1 chest of drawers and 1 bedside table for a 2-bedroom house
- 2 sets Twin Beds with Mattresses, 2 chests of drawers and 2 bedside tables for a 3-bed¬room house
- 1 Desk
- 1 Desk Chair similar to Dining Chairs
- A washing machine
The purchase of household furnishings to be paid for by ministry funds is to be approved by the Field Treasurer or Field Director before purchase is made and only the items listed above may be bought with ministry funds that you have raised. All missionaries should plan to provide all items that you need to set up a home for you and your family and to entertain guests, such as: sheets, blankets, pillows, bedspreads, mattress covers, towels, dish towels, curtains, drapes, dishes, table¬ware, pots and pans, throw rugs, small kitchen appliances, etc.,
As stated before, many of these items are available locally. Be sure to ask about specific items. |
